Aloha from Not-the-Poly!
Hello from... Aw, shit, not the Poly! That's okay, though. I'm doing my best to bring a little of that tropical sunshine into my world. And maybe yours! Aloha!Minnie, as I call her, is my spirit friend on this journey.

I love to see the gang in this corridor of the Poly's Great Ceremonial House. Some people love our little legless friend welcoming everyone from his pile of volcanic rock, others love Bou-tiki, and some are just passing through on their way to Trader Sam's (and those people are also my tribe). But for me, Aloha!Minnie makes me grin, makes me want to relax and have a good time, and... IDK...maybe be her? A little bit?
So you're starting your day at Not-the-Poly, and you want to start it aloha-fresh. May I suggest:

First order from Maui Organics, which is based in Hawaii and uses Hawaiian essential oils and ingredients, and we are over the moon. The loofah soap lathers up like crazy, the body butter is super rich, and both smell exactly like a Dole Whip.
Next, we move on to drinking. Directly. Don't judge me, and I won't judge you (unless you're in a DVC lounge with your bare feet on a table, in which case I am horrified and absolutely judging your nasty ass).
A local distillery/bar, Two James, has coped with the covid-19 closures by offering hand sani, and by selling bottles of their booze alone and in kits. I got the "Painkiller" kit, which is a bottle of their Doctor Bird rum and the ingredients and recipe to make the classic tiki drink.

How is it? Let's just say I've had a Painkiller every night for the past week, except for one: I discovered How Bowers's (@GoAwayGreen) new Youtube series called Liquid Luau, and I made his Monorail Yellow. The MY is a variation of the Painkiller using the same ingredients, minus the nutmeg, in different proportions for a different taste profile. It's more citrus-forward, as opposed to the PK's creamy coconut-ness. I definitely enjoyed both. How's got a few others so far, and I'm gathering the ingredients for them. The vids are short, about 3 minutes, clear, well-shot, and if you watch them, hit that like button. We want him to make more, right?

While this little burst of aloha in the past week has been a true delight, it all started because the scene I'm writing in my WIP has my MC meeting someone at the Polynesian in WDW, and she's having her first Lapu Lapu and solving mysteries. As you do on vacation.
It's been great to relive some memories while writing, and while I hope to finish the scene today and move on from the Poly, I'll still be drinking Monorail Yellows and Painkillers every evening.
Alo-HA!
